Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak‘s second Title Update has been released, and new sub-species, such as the Flaming Espinas, are available for players to hunt. As one would expect, a new monster in the game also brings new materials to grind up, such as the Flaming Espinas Mantle. Unlike normal Espinas, a Flaming Espinas packs far more of a punch than its predecessor. This guide will help Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players defeat Flaming Espinas and obtain its brand-new mantle.

How To Get Flaming Espinas Mantle

To obtain a Flaming Espinas Mantle, players need to either capture or defeat the monster. However, it has a low percentage of being earned, so it may take players a few attempts before obtaining it. Players can increase their chances of acquiring one by breaking its head and tail, including capturing the beast, and severing the tail also gives hunters another opportunity.

To unlock Flaming Espinas, players will first need to beat the main storyline of the Sunbreak DLC and defeat the final boss, Gaismagorm. Afterward, they need to increase their Master-Rank level to 10, from which they will speak with Doctor Tadori, who will give players the quest. Before jumping into the quest, players should understand how to fight Flaming Espinas.

How To Defeat Flaming Espinas

Unlike Violet Mitzusune, another sub-species monster released in Title Update 2, Flaming Espinas does not take as drastic a turn from a normal Espinas. Essentially, it’s a normal Espinas but powered up to the extreme. It retains virtually the same moveset of a regular Espinas, but all of its Fire-based attacks have been dialed up to 11. However, its weakness has now changed from Ice to Water.

Otherwise, as mentioned before, its attacks are more or less the same as a normal Espinas. Its Fireball attacks still give hunters Poison and Fireblight but hit twice as hard. Its physical attacks also remain the same, such as charging at players head-on or swinging its tail at them. However, there is one key difference between a standard and Flaming Espinas. Flaming Espinas now has a new ultimate move, the Fiery Finale.

Flaming Espinas will begin to walk in place and charges up its fire breath inside its mouth before releasing it towards the ground to cause a massive explosion. This attack can easily wipe out everyone caught inside the explosion, so it is best to stay far away from Flaming Espinas while it charges this move.

Otherwise, if players can survive the brutal onslaught of Fire and Poison from the beast, they can successfully defeat it and claim its mantle.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is available now on PC and Switch.
