The Destiny 2 Halloween event officially started this week. In the game, it is referred to as the Festival of the Lost. Destiny 2 players wear helmets that look like DIY Halloween masks of various characters from the game and gather candy as they play the usual activities available to them. But in addition to candy, there is also a special activity that is available only during the Festival of the Lost. This activity is called Haunted Sectors, and it is essentially Lost Sectors that have gotten some spooky decorations added to them. Here is a guide for what players can expect as they head into the Haunted Sectors.

Bring Some Spectral Pages

Before doing a Haunted Sector, it is recommended that Destiny 2 players farm some Spectral Pages from other activities first. In order for the Spectral Pages to drop, players will need to make sure they are wearing the Masquerade helmet that they get from Eva Levante, as without it, the Spectral Pages will not drop. Spectral Pages can be turned into Manifested Pages in Haunted Sectors as Destiny 2 players kill creatures called Headless Ones.

Haunted Sector Guide

As Destiny 2 players load into a Haunted Sector, they play out just like a normal Lost Sector, as the first thing they should do is kill enemies around them. Eventually, a Summoning Circle will appear nearby. It will be labeled as either A, B, or C depending on how many are active at any given time. These Summoning Circles will be green and will have a bouncing pumpkin in the middle. Players must stand in these circles and wait inside them until a giant Hive Knight called a Headless One spawns in the circle. Once it has spawned, players will need to kill it, and the Headless Ones Defeated counter will increase. Summoning Circles expire after a little while, so players will want to make sure to get to them before that happens.

Beat The Clock

When a Haunted Sector begins, Destiny 2 players have five minutes to kill as many Headless Ones as possible. As time goes on, Summoning Circles will appear more frequently, and in some cases, they will spawn at the same time.

Players can either divide and conquer, or they can try to summon multiple Headless Ones at once and annihilate them with Power Weapons and Supers. Once 10 Headless Ones have been killed, no more Summoning Circles will spawn, regardless of how much time is left. Alternatively, if players run out of time before they kill 10 Headless Ones, the boss will spawn.

Defeat the Boss

Each Haunted Sector has its own unique boss, but they all have the same mechanic. Since Haunted Sectors are not respawn-restricted zones, players don’t have to worry about dying.

As Destiny 2 players do damage to the boss, eventually, it will gain a shield that makes it immune to all damage. At this time, Summoning Circles will begin to spawn once again. When a Headless One is summoned and killed, they will drop several Pumpkin Bombs.

These Pumpkin Bombs can be thrown at the boss, and once enough of them have been thrown, the boss will lose their shield and can be damaged once again. This process repeats until the boss is defeated, but Destiny 2 players may not want to kill the boss as fast as possible.

This is because the Headless Ones that spawn during the encounter can also turn Spectral Pages into Manifested Pages. Not only that, but every Headless One killed counts toward one of the Triumphs needed for the Ghost Writer title. Not only that, but the more Headless Ones that have been killed, the better the loot is at the end of a Haunted Sector.

Destiny 2 is now available for Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
