Halloween is always a huge event in Fortnite – it’s when the Fortnitemares event happens and event skins that only come around once a year are put back in the Item Shop. It’s one of the best timed events that the game has to offer, a certainly exciting time of the year for all Fortnite players.

One of the most notorious skins in the game is the Skull Trooper, a Halloween event skin. Not too long ago, the skin got some extra styles and a back bling. However, to unlock the Ghost Portal back bling players have to complete a few quests. This guide will go over these quests and explain how to get through them.

How To Skull Trooper’s Back Bling

A while ago, when players purchased the Skull Trooper skin, it wouldn’t come with any back bling. Since then the Item Shop has changed greatly and it’s nearly mandatory for Epic rarity skins to include a back bling and additional styles. So, Epic Games decided to give away the Ghost Portal cosmetic to players that had purchased this skin and all players that decided to acquire it in the future. To do this, they added a set of quests called “Skull Trooper quests” that once completed would have the Ghost Portal as its reward.

The Skull Ranger is part of the Skull Squad set just like Skull Trooper, however, acquiring the Skull Ranger skin won’t give players access to the Skull Trooper quests. The Ghost Portal back bling can only be acquired exclusively after purchasing the Skull Trooper skin.

Everyone loves the Skull Trooper outfit but before buying it, it’s always a good idea to check whether its back bling’s quests are easy or not – this way players will know how much of a hard time they will have trying to get it.

When completing the Skull Trooper quests, it’s not mandatory to use the Skull Trooper outfit at all. Gamers can keep playing however they please and switch between skins freely and quest progression will continue normally.

  • Search chests in a single match (6)

Chests are scattered all around the Battle Royale island, they are especially abundant in named locations, so visiting one is a quick way to get this quest done. However, POIs can be quite dangerous since they tend to be hot drops.

In Season 4, vaults were reintroduced in Fortnite and players can now open them by collecting or two keysvaults have tons of chests inside, at least three. This is also a great option to open that many chests in a single match.

  • Complete Daily Bonus Goals (7)

Players can complete a maximum of three Daily Bonus Goals per day. The first three daily quests that they complete will grant them a Daily Bonus Goal. If a player gets through the maximum amount of Daily Bonus Goals, finishing this quest in the shortest time possible, it’ll take three days.

  • Deal damage to opponents in a single match (300)

Although this quest can easily be done through regular gameplay by eliminating other players or hostile wildlife, a hack to get through it in a flash is by playing Team Rumble. In the Team Rumble game mode, there are two large teams and everyone will continuously respawn until the end of the match, this way players can keep dealing damage to enemies in the same match without having to think about the risk of being eliminated when engaging in combat.

  • Play matches with at least one elimination (14)

Eliminations will only count on enemy players, this quest can’t be done by killing hostile wildlife for example. Landing in hot spots such as Tilted Towers or Rocky Reels is a way to get easy early-game eliminations.

This task is most likely the one that players will take the longest to finish. There is no way of playing 50 matches without it taking a good few hours. It’s possible to simply enter a match, land somewhere, and eliminate yourself. However, this will take a toll on players’ KD ratio and it’s not that much fun either. The Skull Trooper quests are intended to last a couple of weeks, before receiving the reward.

The Ghost Portal back bling is the main reward for these quests, however, each time a player finishes a Skull Trooper quest they’ll receive 2,000 XP to help increase their Season level.

After completing all Skull Trooper quests, the Ghost Portal back bling will appear on the player’s screen in the lobby. The player simply has to select “claim” and it’ll be added to their locker.

Everything About The Ghost Portal Back Bling

After completing every single Skull Trooper quest, players will be 10,000 XP richer and have a new back bling in their lockers. The Ghost Portal back bling has two styles, a blue style, and a green style to match two of Skull Trooper’s styles.

Just like its name indicates, it’s a portal with ghosts within it, it leaves a mist as the character runs in-game and ghosts of familiar skins will sometimes appear. It’s a reactive cosmetic item which means that there’s a way to trigger it to change through the match. In this case, it reacts to eliminations.

Each time the player eliminates someone, the back bling will flash. As the player eliminates more opponents, the mist will turn into a trail – this happens after four eliminations. The player can accumulate more kills and the trail will become longer, ghosts will also emerge from the portal more often.

Unfortunately, the ghosts that come out of the portal aren’t the skins of the players that are eliminated, they’re predefined. Rust Lord, Raptor, Rex, and Cuddle Team Leader are just some of the outfits that can appear within the portal – these are some of the most notorious skins in Fortnite so it’s no wonder that they were picked to be part of the back bling’s gimmick.

Fortnite is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
