She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 8 almost pays homage to Netflix’s Daredevil series with an iconic hallway fight scene, and here’s how.

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil appearance on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is something that fans of the character waited several months for. His hallway fight in Episode 8 seemed to pay homage to Netflix’s Daredevil series. This wasn’t a coincidence, as it turns out that director Kat Coiro closely studied the action sequences in the original show to prepare for the iconic Daredevil fight scene.

Daredevil became a fan-favorite character after his standalone series premiered on Netflix in 2015. When his appearance on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was revealed, with a She-Hulk trailer launch during San Diego Comic-Con, fans of the character celebrated for days. There was some concern about whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be able to do justice to Daredevil, but Coiro came in prepared.

The moment that Cox’s Devil from Hell’s Kitchen steps into Leap-Frog’s den in Episode 8 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is reminiscent of many Daredevil episodes. When speaking to ComicBook.com, Coiro revealed that she went back and watched “so many hallway fights to make sure that we drew elements from them.” Daredevil silently walks through the dark corridor and beats up several goons in his traditional fight style. That scene has given many fans the reassurance that the MCU is the right fit for Daredevil, and while the original series might have been canceled, all is not lost.

While fans enjoyed watching Daredevil in action, Coiro and her team had to ensure that he fit into the series and followed its themes. As Daredevil fights the goons in the hallway, She-Hulk reminds fans that it is her show and she’s in charge by crashing through the roof. This was the team’s way of ensuring that Daredevil was placed “squarely in She-Hulk’s world.” Daredevil’s interactions with She-Hulk and their blooming romance are another aspect that many fans have been talking about since the episode premiered. This relationship is something that Coiro was “most nervous about, because he has such a rabid fan base, and because people expect certain things and yet we’re subverting his genre a little bit.”

After his brief appearance on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, fans are now looking forward to Daredevil: Born Again. Not only was this the first time that Cox donned the costume in the MCU, but he returned to the screen as the hero after a four-year gap, following a brief stint as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It remains to be seen what his journey in the MCU entails, but the hype for the upcoming Daredevil series has now increased.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is streaming on Disney Plus.
