Some fans share their dislike of the UI of Gotham Knights and associate its crafting menu with that of a free-to-play mobile game.

Some Gotham Knights players have expressed their issues with the UI as they claim it looks like a mobile game. Gotham Knights is out today on PC and current-gen consoles, but it was originally supposed to launch on previous-gen consoles as well. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights were canceled earlier this year, allowing the developers to focus on the new systems.

A study revealed that Gotham Knights was one of the most hyped games in development, alongside the upcoming God of War Ragnarok and Starfield, but it received criticism from some fans in the lead-up to its launch. It was revealed that Gotham Knights is capped at 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no option for a 60 FPS performance mode. For context, it’s rare for a next-gen game to not offer an optional graphics mode that runs at a higher frame rate. It now looks like 30 FPS gameplay is not the only issue players may have with Gotham Knights.

A Reddit user named InternationalWafer74 has shared an image of Gotham Knights’ UI and claims that the interface resembles free-to-play mobile games. It looks like this image is from the game’s crafting menu as the UI appears to describe a new melee weapon, with its properties and special effects listed next to the character. In the bottom left corner, players can see five different types of materials they need to craft the weapon.

Judging by the other comments on this post, InternationalWafer74’s claims of it resembling mobile games seems to be a popular takeaway. Many players mention their distaste for grinding in such games, and some believe that Gotham Knights was originally meant to be a live-service title. Fans of the Arkham series also share this disappointment at the current state of the franchise. On the other hand, some express their optimism about Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad game.

Gotham Knights currently does not have any microtransactions, and all the content appears to be unlockable via gameplay. However, some users believe that they were removed during its development, and reference the backlash towards Marvel’s Avengers‘ use of microtransactions.

Fans interested in playing Gotham Knights should note that it will get a four-player co-op mode on November 29 as a free update. This cooperative mode will be separate from Gotham Knights’ main story, which is limited to two players. In this mode, gamers will be tasked with fighting waves of enemies and completing specific objectives in an arena-like environment.

Gotham Knights is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
