As the Xbox Series X/S slowly approaches its two-year anniversary, Microsoft’s platform is gradually amassing a respectable library. Consoles typically do not start to flourish until the latter half of their existence, once cross-gen stops being a priority and developers can focus exclusively on crafting projects for only the most modern systems. The Xbox Series X/S has yet to reach that point, although things are moving in that direction.

So far, 2022 has produced a number of stellar games, particularly in the open-world genre. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are all good-to-great, and they offer wildly different experiences from each other. While big releases have slowed down since the end of March, that should change the longer 2022 goes on, with games like Saints Row, Gollum, Gotham Knights, and, Modern Warfare 2 set to drop by the end of the year.

October 2022 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games

While September got the ball rolling again for 2022, its successor has kicked things up a notch. October 2022 has been overflowing with huge releases, starting from the month’s opening week with Overwatch 2‘s launch. The hero shooter is free-to-play and has not enjoyed the greatest of debuts, but anyone with an Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S can jump into Blizzard’s next entry in the series.

No More Heroes 3 has been ported to Microsoft’s consoles, and the hack and slash game is quite fun. Dragon Ball: The Breakers blends the beloved anime franchise with 4v1 gameplay akin to something like Dead by Daylight. Anime-style fans can also pick up Persona 5 Royal when it debuts on Xbox systems. A Plague Tale: Requiem is out on Game Pass, making it as simple and cost-effective as possible for Xbox Series X/S owners to continue Amicia and Hugo’s story.

The biggest release of this stacked month is undoubtedly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward’s sequel is primed to continue the good work of 2019’s Modern Warfare, one of the stronger modern entries in the franchise. If COD is not to somebody’s tastes, they can pick up Gotham Knights or Star Ocean: The Divine Force, both of which release just a few days prior to Modern Warfare 2.

November 2022 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games

So far, the scheduler for November 2022 is still in its infancy, but a couple of noteworthy projects are announced for the month. Amplitude Studios’ Humankind will be ported to consoles at the beginning of the month. Flying Wild Hog’s Evil West has an awesome Western aesthetic and visceral combat, and it could be one of the year’s nicer surprises.

Goat Simulator 3 drops players into a sandbox that is built to embrace chaos, and silliness is the name of the game here. Following in the footsteps of the original Goat Simulator, which is still a fun physics-based romp, the sequel looks primed to be bigger and better. December 2022 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games

The Holiday season launches well before the last month of the year, but December is typically a solid period in terms of releases. At the moment, a couple of big games have been announced for the end of 2022, including The Callisto Protocol, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion.

These three titles are all highly anticipated and scratch wildly different itches. The Callisto Protocol looks set to be one of the more exciting Xbox games of 2022, and it should fill the horror void until the Dead Space remake launches in January 2023. Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a tactical RPG by the developer behind the XCOM games, which should, at the bare minimum, translate to strong gameplay fundamentals. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is a remaster of Square Enix’s PSP classic, making the story more widely available to modern audiences.

Hello Neighbor 2 will be making its full release by the end of the year, and the same can be said about Need for Speed Unbound.

Major Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games Announced For The Rest Of 2022

Major Xbox Games In Development With No Release Year Or A Post-2022 Estimation

“Coming soon” can mean anything from a few months to a couple of years. Beyond Good and Evil 2, Diablo 4, Dragon Age 4, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 are all in development, but players will have to wait patiently to learn when these games will be made available to play. Projects like the new Bungie IP are still a long way off from becoming a reality; however, at least the studios have confirmed they are working on them.

There are so many exciting announced projects that will eventually come to the Xbox Series X/S, some of which have revealed very little information about themselves. Alan Wake 2, The Elder Scrolls 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are all highly-anticipated titles that could still be a long way off from becoming a reality, and these projects are just the tip of the iceberg.

Rumored Xbox Games

Just because a project has not been officially announced doesn’t mean it cannot be discussed. Some rumored games, such as Gears 6, should happen sooner or later.

All these games are suspect to speculation and nothing more. Therefore, they should all be taken with a grain of salt.
