The file size of Gotham Knights has been revealed, and fans now have a better idea about how much space to save up for the game’s launch.

The file size of Gotham Knights has been revealed ahead of its scheduled release later this month. Gotham Knights comes out next week on October 21 for current-gen consoles and PC. Despite being announced as a cross-gen title, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights were canceled earlier this year.

Nowadays, many games take up a ton of storage space, with some even crossing the 100 GB mark. PS5 features impressive compressing technology known as Kraken, but its effects vary between games. For example, Dying Light 2 on PS5 was roughly half the size of its PS4 counterpart despite being a more graphically intensive version. On the other hand, many AAA PS5 games take up way more space on the console. Now, fans have a better idea about how much space Gotham Knights will require when it launches next week.

PlayStation Game Size on Twitter reveals that the PS5 version of Gotham Knights will take up 41.030 GB of storage space. The number was fairly standard for AAA games during the previous generation and appears to be a bit lower than other games that are releasing these days. PlayStation Game Size also states that preload will begin on October 19, two days before the game’s launch. It should be noted that this number is for the PS5 version, so it’s possible for Gotham Knights to take less or even more space on other platforms.

PlayStation Game Size reveals the file sizes of various games before their launch. As an example, it recently unveiled that God of War Ragnarok will be over 90 GB on PS4, although the size of the PS5 version is currently unknown. The same account lists out the size requirements for titles coming to PS Plus, either as a part of the free monthly games lineup or the massive catalog available to Extra and Premium members.

WB Games Montreal, the developer behind Batman: Arkham Origins, is making Gotham Knights, which marks the studio’s first full release since 2013. Batman: Arkham Origins received mixed reviews upon its launch, with not adding enough to the Arkham series as one of its main criticisms. It also featured a multiplayer portion, and many critics deemed it an unnecessary addition to the series. It’ll be interesting to see how Gotham Knight compares to Arkham Origins and the rest of the series when it launches later this month.

Gotham Knights releases on October 21st, 2022 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
