GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

10/10 Chai

Personality: Peppy
Birthday: March 6th

Chai is an adorable peppy elephant villager from the Sanrio x Animal Crossing collaboration, based on the Sanrio character Cinnamoroll! Unfortunately, that means she’s only available through exclusive Amiibo cards, and she can’t be found through traditional villager searching methods.

She has a teacup balanced on her head, which makes the perfect candidate for a food/drink themed island, and she’s popular for her cutesy fashion sense and theme. In New Horizons, her house is a pastel blue with a pastel pink roof. The interior is similarly pastel-colored and decorated with Cinnamoroll themed furniture!

9/10 Apple

Personality: Peppy
Birthday: September 24th

Apple is a peppy hamster villager that somewhat resembles an apple, with her round pink/red face and green details. She’s one of two fruit themed villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and her bubbly personality is sure to liven up your island!

The exterior of her house is a plain pink with a brick-red roof, and does nothing to prepare you for the chaos inside. Her room, as her name would suggest, is absolutely bursting with apples. Apple wallpaper, apple TV, apple rug, apple chair, you name it! That’s part of why she deserves a spot on this list, for all the apples she brings with her.

8/10 Chadder

Personality: Smug
Birthday: December 15th

This cheese-themed mouse is Chadder, a smug villager that comes dressed to the nines. According to his Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp bio, his parents meant to name him after their favorite cheese, but they got the vowels mixed up. He’s also the only mouse with the smug personality!

The exterior of his house matches a food themed island pretty well, with orange walls and a rounded yellow roof meant to resemble cheese. The interior is a slightly different theme, seeming to resemble a city hotel’s bathroom.

7/10 Merengue

Personality: Normal
Birthday: March 19th

Merengue (spelled like the Dominican dance style) is a normal rhinoceros villager designed to resemble a strawberry shortcake, and she has some seriously big fans. She also comes decked out in a chef outfit, which is perfect for a food themed island! She’s also the only female rhinoceros villager with two horns – a red/green strawberry as well as a slightly hidden cream-colored horn.

The exterior of her house is nothing special, with a beige brick wall and red roof. The interior is a delightfully chaotic candy kitchen, featuring pastel Neapolitan colors and an ice cream lamp.

6/10 Zucker

Personality: Lazy
Birthday: March 8th

Zucker is a lazy octopus villager, and one of the most sought-out villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This sweet character is themed after takoyaki, a Japanese snack of dough filled with diced octopus. Yes, that makes his species a little morbid, but it’s far from the first time Animal Crossing has named a character like this. Plus, he’s just adorable!

As for his house, the exterior is a plain bamboo shack with a green roof. The interior resembles an outdoor vendor, referencing how takoyaki is commonly sold at food stalls! The wallpaper and flooring also make him look like he is selling outdoors in a city.

5/10 Tia

Personality: Normal
Birthday: November 18th

Tia is a normal elephant villager designed to resemble an anthropomorphic teapot. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, she even has a ceramic texture compared to the other fuzzy elephant villagers, so she’s incredibly unique. Funnily enough, she prefers coffee to tea!

The exterior of her house is an elegant teal blue with a rounded white roof. The interior matches a food themed island perfectly, as it’s a French café themed room with a small kitchen area and table. It has the coveted café wall with a brown linoleum floor. So cute!

4/10 Sprinkle

Personality: Peppy
Birthday: February 20th

This peppy penguin is Sprinkle! She may not look the most food themed, but once you know her Japanese name is Frappé, it’s easy to see where the inspiration comes from. Her English name refers to the ice cream topping, which makes sense as she somewhat resembles an ice cream with a swirl on top. Sprinkle is also the only peppy penguin villager currently in the series!

The exterior of her house is a basic blue brick house with a white roof (so, the opposite of her design), and the interior is completely ice themed.

3/10 Frita

Personality: Sisterly
Birthday: July 16th

Frita might just be the most food-themed of the bunch. She’s a super unique brown sheep whose wool is shaped like French fries, her head is shaped like a burger, her face looks like a potato, and she even comes with a hot dog tank top! Her Japanese name ‘Wendi’ is also a reference to the fast food chain Wendy’s.

Her house’s exterior is a pretty basic orange brick with a green roof, but the interior is another story. Her room is styled as a crowded diner, with a vending machine and bright neon ‘we’re open’ sign.

2/10 Ketchup

Personality: Peppy
Birthday: July 27th

Ketchup is a super cute red duck with a yellow beak, orange cheeks, and leaf-like green hair, all to resemble a tomato! Her name, Ketchup, obviously refers to the condiment she resembles. As she’s a peppy villager, expect talk of forming a girl group, over-excited reactions to just about everything, and dreams of being famous in the future. Her house’s exterior is red concrete with a yellow door and beige tiled roof, and the interior is picnic themed! She’s got outdoor themed wallpaper and flooring, as well as a cute picnic basket and log table/chairs.

1/10 Tangy

Personality: Peppy
Birthday: June 17th

Tangy is a popular peppy cat villager designed to resemble an orange! Down to the leaf on her head and the citrus texture of her skin, she’s perfect for a food themed island. Her English name comes from the sharp taste of citrus fruit, and her Japanese name (Hyakupā) is a contraction of the Japanese words for ‘100 Percent’, referring to juice concentrate.

The exterior of her house resembles her, with orange walls and a green roof. Like Apple, Tangy’s room is completely fruit-themed, but Tangy has a little more variety. Her wallpapers are oranges, but she has pear, peach, and coconut furniture too!
