With the release of A Plague Tale: Requiem fast approaching, Focus Entertainment showcase Hugo’s immense powers that players will be able to utilize.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will be soon upon us and marketing for the title is in full swing. The sequel to 2019’s critically acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence, publisher Focus Entertainment has been highlighting many features of its upcoming entry to the rat-infested franchise. A new video of A Plague Tale: Requiem provides a brief insight into the telepathic powers of Hugo de Rune.

The sequel has been impressing gamers since its announcement during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase last June. In recent weeks, Focus Entertainment has revealed a story trailer, gameplay previews, and demonstrated how much the technology has improved since 2019, claiming that up to 300,000 rats will be present on screen at once. A Plague Tale: Innocence featured Hugo, a young boy trying to survive a fictional Hundred Years’ War, who had the power to control these rats that are overwhelming cities and villages.

In a gameplay video recently uploaded, the short highlight reel suggests that Hugo’s abilities have been significantly developed for the sequel. The prior title had limited opportunities for players to make use of these powers, but A Plague Tale: Requiem seems to allow access at will. Players will engage with a familiar system, in which enemies are represented as heat-signatures, aiding traversal as they maneuver a horde of rats. Amicia, Hugo’s sister and the primary playable character, can be heard throughout the video, as well as a vindictive voice calling for more rats. The sound of these rats devouring enemies is visceral and is sure to instill a profound sense of discomfort in the player, even more intense than before.

A Plague Tale: Innocence received significant praise for its soundtrack, and Olivier Derivière returns to compose for the sequel. The background and setting prompted similar celebration, with players finding themselves drawn by intrigue surrounding the Inquisition and a macabre fascination with the vermin plaguing France. With A Plague Tale: Requiem confirmed to be longer than its predecessor, players will rejoice at the opportunity to journey further through this morbidly captivating story, which has never looked better.

Coming to Xbox Game Pass, the subscription service is the perfect way to access the title. Players are able to pre-install the title today on the service, at a reasonable 50GB, given the increased length and complexity of the game. A Plague Tale: Requiem is not the only game fit for Halloween, as Scorn releases this Friday, ensuring gamers are well served through the season.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will be available on October 18 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
