Twitch has become no stranger to controversy of late, with various issues arising on the platform every week. From public backlash by own content creators transferring to different streaming platforms, the website is enmeshed in drama. While not part of the most recent set of news, popular streamer xQC and adeptthebest, who goes by Adept, are entering uncharted waters after a public feud.

Twitch has already seen many couples come and go, such as LilyPichu and SleightlyMusical (who now goes by TheAlbertChang). Of course, xQc and Adept are not the first – and certainly won’t be the last couple to break it off in a public way, though the manner in which they did it has many wondering if the relationship, and how it ultimately ended, was healthy for either online personality.

xQc and Adept’s Complicated Past

The two streamers have a turbulent history, and this isn’t the first time that xQc and Adept have broken up. They previously split in August 2021, but were publicly back together by December of the same year, being openly flirtatious with one another on Twitter and other social media platforms.

While this second breakup began at the beginning of September, the drama continued over the course of the month, affecting xQc’s relationships with other streamers. They clashed in a livestream on September 15, arguing with one another about their former relationship in front of an audience of about 125,000 viewers. Such a public debate with intimate details saw some viewers calling xQc tasteless and inciting harassment against his former housemate Adept, to which he commented on the double-standard of people discussing how they feel about his platform.

Eventually, xQc issued a public apology to Adept. During this conversation, both acknowledged that they were probably too “emotional” for the moment, which led to things getting out of hand. These events later saw the pair streaming Paint on September 20.

As TwitchCon San Diego 2022 has reached its final day, there are still many people wondering if xQC and Adept have reignited an old flame after seeing one another in person. It wouldn’t be wholly surprising since the two streamers have hidden their relationship from viewers in the past, as the first time they began dating they would only acknowledge each other as housemates.

Still, the reasons that xQc and Adept broke up in September likely remain, as xQc said he “was cornered into choosing between family and Sammy (Adept).” He claims that she and his family – namely his brother – didn’t get along, and it was causing a lot of personal stress. While this wasn’t the only reason why the relationship ended, it was still a prominent factor.

Whether xQc and Adept will date again or just continue to support one another platonically remains to be seen. Being friends is already a great step forward for the pair, since public debates appeared to have taken a toll on their mental health. Most of Twitch appears to have moved on to new drama anyhow, like JustAMinx being accused of blackmailing another streamer.
