EA has recently announced that a special event called Liquidators will be coming to Battlefield 2042 in mid-October and will feature new game modes and cosmetic items. This event will be coming after the update to Battlefield 2042‘s second season of content, and will include infantry-based gameplay experiences. Little is currently known about the event, but EA has promised to reveal more information about the special event soon.

Many fans are focused on Battlefield 2042‘s Season 2 update, which launches on September 27 and will fix issues with popular maps, address helicopter and bullet inconsistencies, and bring new vehicles to the field. The upcoming special event, however, shouldn’t be overlooked. In a special image from EA, fans can see some sort of goo exploding behind a player wearing a hazmat suit and a mask. Indeed, the Liquidators event could bring some fascinating cosmetics and gameplay moments to the latest Battlefield title.

Though brief, the official statement from EA about the October event mentions that all the content will be infantry-only. Players should expect small maps, close-quarters combat, and no access to vehicles. While the Battlefield Season 2 Battle Pass just delivered new content to fans, it’s hard to deny that 2042 has needed more engaging content. It seems as though EA and DICE are working to give players a more contained and simplistic experience, which could be a pleasant change for those who have only been experiencing Battlefield 2042’s massive multiplayer modes.

This news about the October special event will hopefully represent a step in the right direction for Battlefield fans. Many players have been begging for EA to improve Battlefield 2042 after a rocky beta and lackluster launch. DICE is clearly dedicated to fans and has been working to bring content that players will appreciate to what is arguably the most ambitious Battlefield game yet. The special event will feature small play spaces and earnable cosmetics, all of which could bring new passion to Battlefield 2042.

Aside from the possibility of bettering the game, this new content could also bring new players to Battlefield 2042. For gamers who have been wavering between Battlefield and Call of Duty, the new updates could be enough to show that DICE is not giving up on its newest title. While there is no guarantee that future additions to the game will be successful, it is great to see the developer working to improve the latest game in a franchise that means so much to so many.

Battlefield 2042 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
